Up to date research, reports that children as young as 6 months can begin to learn sign language. These simple, laminated, self-adhesive labels placed on objects in and around the child’s environment encourages the earliest of literacy skills; the connection between the written word and spoken language. Benefits include decreasing a sense of frustration and developing a stronger bond with the child. These ASL labeling kits for Home, School and Preschool were developed by Katey Blehm, speech-language pathologist and mother of two who continues to teach this system statewide.
